Darren Mitchell, a 35-year-old resident of Vallejo, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine and firearms. The sentence was handed down by Senior U.S. District Judge William B. Shubb, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Kimberly A. Sanchez.
During a five-day jury trial, evidence showed that Mitchell arranged a deal involving 1,000 methamphetamine pills with a buyer who later testified in court. Federal law enforcement executed a search warrant at Mitchell’s home in Vallejo several days after the transaction.
At the residence, agents found two infants living there along with methamphetamine-laced pills and an industrial pill pressing machine. They also discovered a loaded AR-15 assault-style rifle and a loaded Smith & Wesson pistol with its serial number removed hidden inside the dishwasher.
“This case was the product of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration,” stated the release. “Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cameron Desmond and Sam Stefanki prosecuted the case.”
