A federal grand jury has indicted Marcos Gonzalez-Reyes, 43, of Vallejo, on charges of distributing and possessing child sexual abuse material. The indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Eric Grant.
Court documents state that in December 2024, Gonzalez-Reyes allegedly used the peer-to-peer software eMule to distribute hundreds of images depicting children involved in sexually explicit acts to undercover law enforcement agents over a three-day period. In May 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at his residence in Vallejo and reportedly seized electronic devices containing thousands more images involving minors, including toddlers.
The investigation was conducted by the Solano County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sam Stefanki is prosecuting the case.
If convicted on the charge of distribution of child sexual abuse material, Gonzalez-Reyes could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The possession charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing would be determined by the court based on statutory factors and federal guidelines. The charges are allegations; Gonzalez-Reyes is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse across the country. Project Safe Childhood coordinates efforts among federal, state, and local agencies to pursue offenders and protect victims.
