A Stockton resident, Rayshawn Williams, 20, has pleaded guilty to charges related to firearms trafficking and possession of machine guns. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Eric Grant.
Court documents state that between May and July 2024, Williams sold a total of 10 firearms in street transactions for cash to a confidential informant. Among the weapons sold were two Glock pistols equipped with conversion devices known as “switches,” which enable the firearms to operate in fully automatic mode.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in collaboration with the Stockton Police Department Crime Gun Intelligence Center. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jason Hitt and Zulkar Khan are handling the prosecution.
Williams is scheduled for sentencing before U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez on December 9, 2025. He faces up to 10 years in prison for each machine gun charge, a maximum of five years for illegal firearms trafficking, and a possible fine of $250,000. The final sentence will be determined by the court after reviewing statutory factors and Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
According to officials, this case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and reducing violent crime through coordinated efforts involving multiple Department of Justice programs such as OCDETFs and Project Safe Neighborhood.
