A Santa Clara County resident has taken legal action against a major automotive corporation, alleging multiple breaches of warranty related to a defective vehicle. Beatriz Chaves filed a complaint on October 21, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, against American Honda Motor Co., Inc. The case revolves around claims that the defendant failed to uphold both implied and express warranties concerning a newly purchased vehicle.

The lawsuit details how Beatriz Chaves acquired a new 2024 Honda CR-V with the expectation that it would be safe and reliable. However, Chaves alleges that the vehicle was delivered in an unmerchantable condition, failing to meet quality and safety standards expected from such a purchase. The complaint outlines that the vehicle experienced numerous failures, rendering it unsafe and unreliable despite not being misused or modified by Chaves. “The VEHICLE contained multiple manufacturer defects,” states the complaint, further accusing Honda of breaching implied warranties by providing a product unfit for its intended use.

Chaves also accuses Honda of breaching express warranties by failing to repair the vehicle within a reasonable timeframe after several complaints were made regarding its functionality. The complaint highlights that despite attempts to resolve these issues through repairs, Honda did not fulfill its obligations under California law. As per Civil Code Section 1794, Chaves seeks various forms of relief including reimbursement for financing and ownership costs of the vehicle, rescission of the purchase agreement, restitution damages, attorney’s fees, and civil penalties.

In addition to warranty breaches, Chaves charges Honda with violating the Song Beverly Consumer Warranty Act by not repairing or replacing the defective vehicle after reasonable attempts. This act mandates manufacturers to either replace goods or reimburse buyers if they fail to conform goods to applicable express warranties after several repair attempts. “Defendants violated the Act by not repairing Plaintiff’s VEHICLE after a reasonable number of attempts,” asserts the filing.

Through this lawsuit, Chaves aims for judgment against Honda seeking incidental and consequential damages proven at trial alongside other reliefs deemed proper by the court. The plaintiff is represented by Arye C. Abraham from Abraham Law PC while no specific attorneys are mentioned for Honda in this document.

The case is presided over in Santa Clara County under Case No: 29CV478202 with Judge L. Ayala reviewing it on behalf of Clerk of Court Abraham Law PC.
