Benjamin Lopez has taken legal action against his former employer, alleging a series of labor law violations that could impact numerous employees. On October 23, 2025, Lopez filed a class-action lawsuit in the Superior Court of California for the County of Sacramento against Sacramento Apartments LLC and additional unnamed defendants. The lawsuit accuses the company of multiple infractions under California’s labor laws.
The complaint filed by Benjamin Lopez details a pattern of alleged misconduct by Sacramento Apartments LLC, where he worked as a non-exempt maintenance technician from February 2015 to May 2025. Lopez claims that the company failed to pay minimum, regular, and overtime wages; did not provide meal or rest periods; neglected to indemnify necessary expenditures; and issued inaccurate wage statements. These actions are said to violate various sections of the California Labor Code and Industrial Welfare Commission Wage Orders. According to Lopez, these practices allowed Sacramento Apartments LLC to increase profits unfairly at the expense of its employees’ rights.
Lopez’s lawsuit seeks monetary relief on behalf of himself and all similarly situated employees in California. He aims to recover unpaid wages, statutory penalties, benefits, interest, attorneys’ fees, costs, and expenses. The case outlines specific violations such as failing to pay overtime compensation as required by Labor Code § 510 and not providing meal periods mandated by Labor Code § 512(a). Additionally, it alleges that employees were forced to use personal vehicles for work without reimbursement in violation of Labor Code § 2802.
The plaintiff is represented by attorneys Fawn F. Bekam, Jacquelyn Silva, and Desiree Ruiz Alfaro from Abramson Labor Group. They argue that Sacramento Apartments LLC engaged in unfair business practices under Business and Professions Code §§ 17200 et seq., which includes any unlawful or fraudulent business act or practice. The suit demands certification as a class action under California Code of Civil Procedure § 382 and seeks both compensatory damages and injunctive relief.
This case is being heard before the Superior Court of California for the County of Sacramento with Case No.: 2ote VOSS 4Or. Attorneys from Abramson Labor Group are advocating on behalf of Benjamin Lopez in this legal battle against his former employer.
