A California woman has filed a lawsuit against a Sacramento-based plastic surgeon and his practice, alleging medical malpractice that resulted in severe injuries. On February 24, 2026, Karen Munroe lodged her complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, accusing Dr. Wayne Yamahata and the Plastic Surgery Center of Sacramento of negligence.

According to the complaint, Munroe claims that on or about March 31, 2025, she suffered significant injuries due to improper care provided by Dr. Yamahata and his associates. The plaintiff asserts that the defendants “impermissibly delayed” and were negligent in delivering adequate medical treatment, which led to severe harm to her body. Munroe alleges that the defendants failed to exercise the standard of care typically expected from medical professionals such as physicians and surgeons.

The complaint further details how Munroe’s health was adversely affected by this alleged negligence. She describes experiencing injury to her body and nervous system, resulting in considerable mental and physical suffering. “Plaintiff was hurt and injured in her health, strength and activity,” the document states, indicating ongoing pain and suffering with potential permanent disability.

Munroe also highlights the financial repercussions of her injuries. She claims she had to employ additional medical professionals for examination and treatment due to the defendants’ actions. Moreover, she anticipates incurring future medical expenses related to these injuries. The lawsuit notes that Munroe’s ability to work has been compromised; she has been unable to attend her usual occupation or pursue employment opportunities since the incident.

In seeking justice from the court, Munroe requests several forms of relief: general damages exceeding $25,000—the minimum jurisdictional limit—compensation for past and future medical expenses, reimbursement for lost earnings, prejudgment interest on damages from the date of injury until resolution, and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

Representing Karen Munroe is attorney William L. Brelsford Jr., from Brelsford Androvich law firm based in Sacramento. The case is being heard under Case No. 2B wood S=So at the Superior Court of California in Sacramento County.
