Sircles Media, Inc., a Delaware corporation known for its smartphone app that facilitates customer reviews and recommendations, has filed a lawsuit alleging defamation against an anonymous Reddit user. The complaint was lodged in the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco, on August 25, 2025. The defendant is identified only as Jane Doe, operating under the username u/Brand_New_Used_2b.

The lawsuit centers around numerous false and defamatory statements made by Jane Doe on Reddit.com, accusing Sircles Media of engaging in illegal activities such as operating a pyramid scheme and money laundering. Sircles Media claims these allegations are not only baseless but have also caused significant harm to their reputation and business operations. The company operates a legitimate app designed to promote word-of-mouth marketing for small and medium-sized businesses by allowing users to share reviews and recommendations.

According to the complaint, Jane Doe’s posts began appearing on Reddit in June 2025. These posts accused Sircles of being involved in various illicit activities including bribery, running fraudulent giveaways for flight and concert tickets, and doxing users who criticize the app. Furthermore, she alleged that Sircles exaggerates app usage statistics and misuses investors’ funds. One particularly damaging claim suggested that Sircles had $2 million in operating costs with millions in debt but only $48k in net revenue.

Sircles vehemently denies these accusations, asserting that they operate a financially viable business without engaging in any criminal activity or inappropriate handling of user data. They argue that Jane Doe acted with negligence or actual malice when making these statements, as she either knew they were false or showed reckless disregard for their truthfulness.

In response to these defamatory claims, Sircles Media seeks compensatory damages exceeding $35,000 along with punitive damages. They are also requesting injunctive relief to prevent further defamatory statements from being published by Jane Doe. Additionally, they demand the removal of all offending posts from Reddit.

Representing Sircles Media are attorneys Karl S. Kronenberger, Jeffrey M. Rosenfeld, and Leah Rosa Vulié from the law firm Kronenberger Rosenfeld LLP. The case is filed under Case No. CGC-25-628494 in the Superior Court of California.
