A California resident has filed a lawsuit against a local transportation company, alleging negligence that resulted in personal injuries. The complaint was lodged by Diana Lomeli on August 20, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura, targeting Ventura Transit and Ventura Transit System, Inc.

According to the complaint, Diana Lomeli, a 62-year-old woman residing in Ventura County, was being transported home from a dialysis appointment on September 4, 2024. The defendants are accused of failing to provide adequate assistance and safety measures during this transportation. Lomeli’s legal representation from Quirk Law Firm asserts that the defendants negligently parked their vehicle and improperly lowered a ramp, creating a tripping hazard which led to Lomeli’s fall and subsequent injuries. “Defendants knew or should have known that lowering the ramp created a tripping hazard,” states the complaint.

The plaintiff claims that the defendants had established policies and procedures intended to ensure passenger safety but failed to adhere to them. Furthermore, it is alleged that despite possessing specialized licenses and training for transporting individuals with medical needs, the defendants acted negligently. This alleged negligence resulted in physical injuries to Lomeli’s body and nervous system, causing her significant mental and physical distress.

Lomeli seeks general damages for her pain and suffering as well as compensation for past and future medical expenses incurred due to her injuries. Additionally, she requests compensation for lost earnings resulting from her inability to work following the incident. The plaintiff also asks for coverage of legal costs associated with pursuing this case.

Representing Diana Lomeli is attorney Leonidas Nicol from Quirk Law Firm LLP. The case is presided over by an unnamed judge under Case No.: POPSCUPPO49320.
