A class-action lawsuit has been filed against a Delaware-based company and a California nonprofit, alleging serious labor violations. The complaint was brought forward by Alexander Leon on November 10, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, targeting Genuine Food Lab, LLC and The Seed School of Los Angeles County. Leon accuses these entities of failing to comply with various provisions of the California Labor Code.

The lawsuit alleges that the defendants engaged in multiple unlawful practices, including not paying minimum and overtime wages, failing to provide required meal and rest breaks, not reimbursing necessary business expenses, and not providing accurate wage statements. Leon claims these violations are part of a systematic policy affecting himself and other similarly situated employees who worked as hourly-paid non-exempt workers in California. He argues that these actions breach several sections of the California Labor Code as well as the Business & Professions Code.

Leon details his employment experience from May 2024 to June 2024 as a cook for the defendants in Sacramento County. He describes how he was often required to work more than eight hours per day without proper compensation or breaks. Additionally, he claims that business expenses such as cell phone usage for work purposes were not reimbursed. The complaint further highlights issues like malfunctioning timekeeping systems leading to inaccurate recording of work hours and subsequent underpayment.

The plaintiff seeks various forms of relief from the court including unpaid wages, penalties for late payment upon termination, reimbursement for business expenses incurred during employment, damages for failure to provide accurate wage statements, and restitution under unfair competition laws. Leon also demands injunctive relief to prevent future violations by the defendants.

Representing Alexander Leon is The Sentinel Firm APC with attorneys Seung L. Yang, Tiffany Hyun, and Diane Le at the helm. The case is presided over by Judge B. Delira under Case No.: 2S yo2rieo.
