In a gripping tale of alleged medical negligence, a California resident has taken legal action against a prominent healthcare provider and its staff. Christiana D. Frost filed a complaint on November 13, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, accusing Dignity Health Medical Foundation and its associates of medical malpractice.

According to the court documents, Frost alleges that she sought medical care for what was initially diagnosed as mastitis—a common breast infection—on May 4, 2025. Despite consulting various healthcare professionals and undergoing multiple treatments, her condition worsened. By June 19, 2025, the situation escalated when an urgent care physician identified an abscess requiring immediate drainage. However, upon visiting Mercy San Juan Medical Center’s emergency department, under the management of Dignity Health Medical Foundation, Frost claims she received a misdiagnosis from Defendant Christopher Jakle, M.D., who allegedly dismissed her condition as a benign cyst without reviewing complete ultrasound results.

Frost recounts how this alleged oversight led to severe physical pain and emotional distress during a preplanned vacation with her family. Her suspicions were confirmed when she later experienced significant pus discharge from her breast and sought treatment at another facility where proper drainage was performed. The official ultrasound report from Mercy San Juan Medical Center corroborated her prior diagnosis of an abscess requiring drainage—a report issued five days post-ER visit.

The complaint details accusations against Defendants Jakle and Daniel Jaramillo for breaching the standard of care expected in such medical situations. It argues that their failure to act promptly resulted in unnecessary suffering for Frost. The plaintiff seeks non-economic damages exceeding $35,000 for past and future medical expenses, incidental costs incurred due to the incident, and prejudgment interest on all damages claimed.

Representing herself pro se in this legal battle, Christiana Frost calls upon the court to hold the defendants accountable for their alleged negligence. The case is presided over by Judge S.S. Decker under Case No. #SCS VO 2 44d.
