Robert Dent, a former employee, has filed a class action lawsuit against his previous employer for alleged violations of California labor laws. The complaint was lodged on November 17, 2025, in the Superior Court of California for the County of Sacramento against Sutter Club and unnamed defendants referred to as Does 1 through 10. Dent claims that the defendants engaged in numerous unlawful employment practices, including failing to pay minimum and overtime wages, not providing meal and rest breaks, and neglecting to reimburse necessary business expenses.
The lawsuit outlines several allegations against Sutter Club. Dent accuses the company of maintaining a systematic policy that deprived employees of their rightful wages by requiring them to work off-the-clock without compensation. This includes time spent waiting to clock in or out and performing duties before officially starting their shifts. Additionally, Dent asserts that employees were frequently interrupted during meal breaks without being compensated for these interruptions. He further alleges that Sutter Club failed to incorporate all forms of remuneration when calculating overtime rates, leading to underpayment.
Dent also claims that Sutter Club did not provide legally compliant meal periods or authorize proper rest breaks as mandated by California law. Employees were allegedly required to work more than five consecutive hours without receiving uninterrupted meal periods or compensation for missed breaks. Furthermore, the company is accused of not reimbursing employees for necessary business expenses incurred during their employment.
In his complaint, Dent seeks various forms of relief from the court. He requests certification of the lawsuit as a class action on behalf of himself and other similarly situated employees who worked for Sutter Club as hourly-paid, non-exempt workers during the relevant statutory period. The relief sought includes unpaid wages at both regular and overtime rates, liquidated damages for failure to pay minimum wages, penalties for inaccurate wage statements, reimbursement for business expenses, waiting time penalties for delayed final paychecks upon termination, and restitution under California’s unfair competition law.
Representing Robert Dent are attorneys Kane Moon, Allen Feghali, Julie Sohyun Oh, and Jamie Osganian from Moon Law Group PC. The case is presided over by Judge V. Bloxson with Case ID: 2 Sct O2y Feo.
