Derek Reyes, a former employee, has filed a lawsuit against his previous employers, alleging multiple violations of labor laws and seeking damages for wrongful termination. The complaint was filed on October 31, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, against Cordelia Winery LLC and Sci-Tek Staffing LLC. Reyes claims that during his employment as a Staffing and Machine Operator, he faced retaliation for disclosing poor working conditions and was denied proper rest and meal breaks.

Reyes’s allegations include being overworked without receiving overtime pay, not being allowed to take mandatory rest and meal breaks, and facing harassment from supervisors. He reported these issues to his supervisors but claims they were ignored or dismissed. Reyes also accuses the defendants of creating a hostile work environment by subjecting him to derogatory remarks and unfair treatment. According to the complaint, despite performing his duties satisfactorily, Reyes was transferred to less desirable tasks without adequate training as part of retaliatory actions by his employers.

The plaintiff seeks general, compensatory, and punitive damages for the alleged violations of California labor laws. These include failure to provide timely rest and meal breaks (Labor Code §§ 226.7 & 512), failure to pay overtime wages (Labor Code §510 & §1194), failure to pay wages when due (Labor Code §204), violation of California sick leave law (Labor Code §§233 & 234), intentional infliction of emotional distress, and wrongful termination in violation of public policy. Reyes is also demanding a jury trial.

Represented by attorneys Valerie Leones-Ramos from Leones Law Firm and Robert Zavala from Zavala Law Offices Inc., Derek Reyes is pursuing legal action against Cordelia Winery LLC and Sci-Tek Staffing LLC for their alleged misconduct. The case ID is 2 OSB 1 coo.
