A former employee has filed a class action lawsuit against two automotive companies and their executives, alleging multiple violations of California labor laws. The complaint was filed by Aubrae Knight on October 14, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, targeting JS Sacramento, Inc., doing business as Epic Chevrolet, and JS Folsom Automotive, Inc., doing business as Folsom Buick Pontiac GMC.
Knight’s lawsuit accuses the defendants of numerous labor law violations during her employment from July 2023 to September 2024. The allegations include failure to pay minimum wages, failure to provide meal and rest periods, failure to pay overtime wages correctly, and not providing accurate wage statements. According to the complaint, “Defendants intentionally and willfully failed to pay overtime wages owed” and manipulated time records when employees took late lunches due to insufficient staffing. The plaintiff also claims that business expenses were not reimbursed as required by law.
The complaint further outlines that Knight was employed as a non-exempt car salesperson but was deprived of rights guaranteed under the California Labor Code due to the defendants’ policies and practices. The suit highlights specific breaches such as not paying all earned wages upon discharge or resignation and engaging in unfair business competition. These actions are said to have provided an unfair advantage over competitors while exploiting employees.
Knight seeks various forms of relief from the court including compensatory damages for unpaid wages dating back four years prior to filing the lawsuit. Additionally, she demands penalties for each violation under relevant sections of the California Labor Code and restitution for funds unlawfully acquired by the defendants through unfair practices. She also requests attorney’s fees and costs associated with pursuing this legal action.
Representing Knight in this case are attorneys Justin Lo and May T. To from Work Lawyers PC. The case is being heard in front of a judge at the Superior Court of California in Sacramento under Case No. 4 St O24 Tas.
