A California woman has filed a lawsuit against an attorney, accusing him of negligence and harassment related to the handling of her late mother’s trust. Maria Luz Altieri-Ortiz lodged the complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, on November 21, 2025, targeting Daniel Hunt as the defendant.

The case centers around allegations that Daniel Hunt failed to properly notify Maria Luz Altieri-Ortiz about amendments to her family’s trust. According to Altieri-Ortiz, Hunt falsely claimed in legal filings that he had informed her regarding changes to the trust through various notifications sent to incorrect addresses. “Mr. Hunt declared in a sworn declaration…to falsely present to the court that I…had been properly notified,” she stated in her complaint. She asserts that these actions were part of a broader scheme involving several individuals, including Robert Gordon Nielsen and his family members, who allegedly conspired with outsiders like Jennifer Campbell and Caitlin Traylor.

Altieri-Ortiz accuses Hunt of neglecting his duty by failing to contact her attorneys despite being aware of their representation. She lists several lawyers who have represented her over the years, including Mohamed Salem and Russell Marne. “Mr. Hunt had the duty to verify and check carefully,” she argues, emphasizing that proper notification should have been made through her legal representatives.

In addition to negligence, Altieri-Ortiz claims intentional infliction of emotional distress due to Hunt’s actions. She describes experiencing extreme emotional turmoil exacerbated by an existing PTSD diagnosis from Stanford University Medical Center. The plaintiff also alleges harassment stemming from Hunt’s failure to communicate with her attorneys about trust matters concerning her mother, Donna Marie Altieri.

Altieri-Ortiz is seeking general damages and additional compensation for unspecified amounts at trial. Her prayer for relief highlights the financial impact and emotional suffering caused by what she perceives as unethical conduct on Hunt’s part.

Representing herself in this legal battle, Maria Luz Altieri-Ortiz stands firm against what she describes as decades-long injustices perpetrated by Nielsen and others involved in manipulating her family’s affairs. The case awaits further proceedings under Case No.: [not provided], presided over by judges yet unnamed.
