Ileana V. Irod has taken legal action against a prominent healthcare organization, accusing it of multiple labor law violations that affect her and potentially hundreds of other employees. On February 27, 2026, Ileana V. Irod filed a class-action lawsuit in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, against Sutter Valley Medical Foundation and Sutter Health. The complaint outlines numerous allegations regarding the defendant’s failure to comply with various California labor laws.

The lawsuit brought forth by Ileana V. Irod, a former medical assistant who worked for the defendants from August 2006 to November 2025, claims that Sutter Valley Medical Foundation and Sutter Health systematically violated labor laws by failing to pay minimum wages and overtime compensation, not providing meal periods or rest breaks as required by law, and not reimbursing necessary business expenses. The plaintiff alleges that these practices were part of a broader company-wide policy that affected all hourly-paid, non-exempt employees within the statutory period.

Irod’s complaint details several grievances: “Defendants maintained a systematic, company-wide policy and practice” that led to employees being underpaid for hours worked beyond regular shifts without receiving due overtime compensation. Furthermore, she asserts that meal periods were often interrupted or skipped entirely due to work demands, violating California Labor Code §§ 226.7 and 512. Additionally, she accuses the defendants of failing to provide accurate wage statements and timely payment upon termination as per California Labor Code §§ 201-203.

The plaintiff seeks comprehensive relief from the court including unpaid wages for all hours worked (both minimum and overtime), liquidated damages under Labor Code §1194.2 for unpaid minimum wages, statutory penalties for inaccurate wage statements under Labor Code §226(e), waiting time penalties under Labor Code §203 for late final payments post-termination, restitution under Business & Professions Code §§17200 et seq., injunctive relief to prevent future violations, as well as attorneys’ fees and costs.

Representing Ileana V. Irod are attorneys Seung L. Yang, Tiffany Hyun, Won Christina Chang, and Diane Le from The Sentinel Firm based in Los Angeles. The case is filed under Case No.: 2 Ets” O04 oa in front of the Superior Court of California in Sacramento County.
