In a shocking turn of events, a former school district official has filed a lawsuit against his previous employer, alleging wrongful termination and retaliation. The complaint was filed by Donald Ogden in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, on February 27, 2026, against the Folsom Cordova Unified School District and its Superintendent Erik Swanson.
The case revolves around Dr. Donald Ogden’s tenure as Associate Superintendent of Human Resources at the Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD). Ogden claims that he was terminated in retaliation for upholding ethical standards and refusing to comply with directives that violated state laws. According to the complaint, Ogden resisted Superintendent Erik Swanson’s attempts to fire an employee on protected leave and provided honest testimony in an investigation into Swanson’s alleged mistreatment of another district employee. Furthermore, Ogden alleges that he faced backlash for recommending disciplinary action against Conrade Mayer, a campus monitor accused of sexually harassing students.
Ogden’s legal filing outlines several causes of action including retaliation under various California statutes such as Labor Code § 1102.5 and Education Code § 44114. He contends that his termination was not only unjust but also orchestrated to silence him as a whistleblower who exposed misconduct within the district. The lawsuit seeks damages for lost wages, emotional distress, damage to reputation, and punitive damages to deter similar conduct by the defendants in the future.
Representing Dr. Ogden are attorneys Julian Burns King and Robert J. King from King & Siegel LLP. The case is presided over by judges from the Superior Court of California with Case ID 28> OO4 7 oO.
