A recent court filing has shed light on a significant class action lawsuit against a major telecommunications contractor in California. The complaint, filed by Carlos Montiel on February 17, 2026, in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, accuses North Sky Communications, LLC of numerous labor law violations affecting its current and former employees.

Carlos Montiel, representing himself and other similarly situated employees, alleges that North Sky Communications engaged in unfair competition and failed to comply with several provisions of the California Labor Code. The lawsuit claims that the company did not pay minimum wages or overtime wages as required by law. It also asserts that North Sky Communications did not provide mandated meal and rest periods to its employees. “The nature of the work performed by the plaintiff did not prevent him from being relieved of all duties for legally required off-duty meal periods,” states the complaint. Montiel worked for North Sky Communications from June 4, 2019, to October 17, 2025, during which he was classified as a non-exempt employee entitled to hourly wages and legally mandated breaks.

The allegations extend beyond wage violations. The complaint accuses North Sky Communications of failing to provide accurate itemized wage statements and neglecting to reimburse employees for necessary business expenses incurred during their employment. Specifically, it highlights that employees were required to use personal cellular phones for work purposes without reimbursement. Furthermore, Montiel claims that the company systematically rounded down hours worked to benefit itself financially at the expense of its workers.

Montiel seeks various forms of relief from the court on behalf of himself and other affected employees. This includes compensation for unpaid wages, statutory penalties for labor code violations, interest on owed amounts, and reimbursement for business expenses. Additionally, Montiel is requesting injunctive relief to prevent future violations by North Sky Communications and ensure compliance with labor laws moving forward.

Representing Carlos Montiel are attorneys from Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP: Norman B. Blumenthal, Kyle R. Nordrehaug, Aparajit Bhowmik, Nicholas J. De Blouw, and Christine T. LeVu. The case is presided over by Judge [Name], under Case No.: [Case Number].
