U.S. District Judge Kirk E. Sherriff has sentenced Delonte Williams, 37, from Washington, D.C., to 33 months in prison for assault with a deadly weapon at the U.S. Penitentiary in Atwater. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith.

Court documents reveal that on April 28, 2024, Williams pursued another inmate around a cell block while wielding a knife-like weapon crafted within the jail. Alongside another inmate, Williams used this makeshift knife to stab the victim, resulting in injuries that required medical treatment.

The co-defendant in this case, Jarvell Kent, is set to be sentenced by Judge Sherriff on June 23, 2025.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Prisons. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Veneman-Hughes led the prosecution.
