A former employee has filed a significant lawsuit against her previous employers, alleging widespread labor violations. Marilyn Jubilo Carlos, through her attorneys at Matern Law Group, PC, filed the complaint on September 2, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento. The defendants named in the case are Life Generations Healthcare LLC and GHC of SAC SNF LLC, both operating under the business names Generations Healthcare and Gramercy Court respectively.

The lawsuit brought by Marilyn Jubilo Carlos accuses Life Generations Healthcare and its associated entities of numerous infractions against California labor laws. According to the complaint, these violations include failing to provide mandatory meal and rest breaks, neglecting to pay minimum and overtime wages for all hours worked, not issuing timely payment for earned wages, providing inaccurate wage statements, failing to maintain necessary employment records, and not reimbursing employees for work-related expenses. Carlos claims that these practices were part of a systematic policy that affected not only herself but also other aggrieved employees during their tenure with the company.

Carlos’s legal action is based on the California Labor Code Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) of 2004. She asserts that despite notifying the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency (LWDA) about these violations on June 26, 2025, no investigation was initiated within the statutory period allowing her to proceed with this representative action. Her allegations detail specific breaches such as denial of full meal periods as mandated by Cal. Labor Code §§ 226.7 and 512 and failure to authorize rest periods as per Cal. Labor Code § 226.7.

The plaintiff seeks several forms of relief from the court including civil penalties as stipulated under various sections of the California Labor Code such as §§ 210 for delayed payments and § 226 for improper wage statements among others. Additionally, she requests compensation for legal fees incurred due to this litigation process under Cal. Labor Code § 2699(k)(1). Carlos emphasizes that she represents all similarly affected non-exempt employees who suffered from these alleged unlawful practices within a specified penalty period.

Representing Carlos in this legal battle are attorneys Matthew J. Matern, Kayvon Sabourian, and Rebecca E. Liu from Matern Law Group PC located in El Segundo, CA. The case is presided over by Judge SP Russell under Case No. S(>.O 2058 35 in Sacramento County’s Superior Court.
