Former Employee Alleges Dental Service Provider Violated Wage Laws

A former employee has taken legal action against a prominent dental service provider, accusing the company of numerous labor law violations. The complaint was filed by Denetria Taylor on October 16, 2025, in the Superior Court of California for the County of Santa Clara against InterDent Service Corporation. Taylor alleges that the company failed to comply with various provisions of the California Labor Code, particularly those related to wage and hour laws.

The lawsuit highlights several alleged infractions by InterDent Service Corporation, including not paying employees for all hours worked, failing to provide legally mandated meal and rest periods, and not maintaining accurate records of hours worked. According to Taylor’s complaint, these actions violate the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) of 2004, which allows employees to seek civil penalties on behalf of themselves and other aggrieved workers. “Wages are not ordinary debts,” states the complaint, emphasizing the importance of wage-and-hour laws in maintaining a stable job market and protecting public welfare.

Taylor claims that during her employment from November 2020 to November 2024 as an hourly-paid non-exempt employee in Santa Clara County, she regularly worked more than eight hours a day without receiving appropriate overtime compensation. The complaint also accuses InterDent Service Corporation of requiring employees to work off-the-clock during meal periods and after clocking out for the day. Additionally, it is alleged that the company failed to provide accurate wage statements and did not indemnify employees for necessary business expenses.

The plaintiff seeks various forms of relief from the court. These include civil penalties under PAGA for herself and other similarly aggrieved employees, injunctive relief to prevent further violations by InterDent Service Corporation, and reimbursement for attorney’s fees and costs incurred during litigation. Taylor’s attorneys argue that these measures are necessary to hold the company accountable for its alleged misconduct and ensure compliance with California labor laws.
