Antonietta Nguyen, the former Chief Financial Officer of ABS Seafood, Inc., has been sentenced to 36 months in federal prison for orchestrating multiple fraud schemes that resulted in the embezzlement of more than $9 million from the San Francisco-based seafood wholesaler. The sentence was delivered by Senior U.S. District Judge Susan Illston on November 14, 2025.
Following a two-week trial in June 2025, a federal jury convicted Nguyen on 12 felony counts including wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering, and tax evasion. Evidence presented at trial showed that Nguyen used her position at ABS Seafood to divert millions of dollars from company accounts for personal use. She paid off her own credit card bills, covered personal expenses with a corporate credit card, and authorized payments on fraudulent invoices linked to a seafood exporter previously owned by her brother.
The misappropriated funds were used for property taxes on her homes, college tuition for her children, and luxury goods purchases totaling over one million dollars. From at least 2015 through 2020, Nguyen spent approximately $2.7 million of company funds on personal items and travel. She also provided corporate credit cards to family members who used them for luxury vacations paid by ABS Seafood.
According to the court’s findings, Nguyen’s activities cost ABS Seafood more than $9 million over six-and-a-half years.
Nguyen was also found guilty of tax evasion for failing to report income derived from these unauthorized benefits. The court determined she owed an additional $121,336.08 in unpaid federal taxes related to this unreported income.
United States Attorney Craig H. Missakian announced the sentencing along with FBI Special Agent in Charge Sanjay Virmani and IRS Criminal Investigation Oakland Field Office Special Agent in Charge Linda Nguyen.
In addition to the prison term, Judge Illston imposed a three-year period of supervised release following incarceration. Nguyen is scheduled to begin serving her sentence on February 6, 2026. A restitution hearing is set for January 16, 2026.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sailaja M. Paidipaty and Colin Sampson prosecuted the case with support from Sara Slattery. The investigation was conducted by the FBI and IRS Criminal Investigation.
