A California resident has filed a lawsuit against a major automobile manufacturer, alleging multiple violations of consumer protection laws related to vehicle warranties. On October 22, 2025, Janghyun Park filed a complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, against Ford Motor Company.

The lawsuit centers around a 2023 Ford Truck Transit Wagon purchased by Park on January 5, 2024. The plaintiff claims that the vehicle developed numerous defects during the warranty period that significantly impaired its use, safety, and value. These issues included problems with the rear axle pinion bearing, starter failure, anti-lock braking system components, and more. Despite several attempts to have these defects repaired under warranty at an authorized dealership in Sunnyvale, California, Park alleges that Ford failed to resolve these issues adequately.

Park’s complaint accuses Ford of breaching both express and implied warranties under the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act. Specifically, the plaintiff asserts violations of Civil Code sections 1793.2 subdivisions (a)(3), (b), and (d), which mandate timely repairs or replacements for defective vehicles under warranty. Furthermore, Park contends that Ford’s actions were willful as they were aware of their obligations but failed to comply with them.

The plaintiff is seeking various forms of relief from the court. This includes actual damages for financial losses incurred due to the alleged breach of warranties and restitution for the diminished value of the vehicle. Additionally, Park seeks consequential and incidental damages alongside reasonable attorney fees as provided by Civil Code section 1794(d). The complaint also demands prejudgment interest at the legal rate and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

Representing Janghyun Park is attorney Misoo Choi from the Law Office of Misoo Choi, APC. The case has been assigned Case No. 25CV478278 and is presided over by Judge M. Johnson in Santa Clara County’s Superior Court.
