In a dramatic legal confrontation, an individual consumer has taken on a major automotive corporation over alleged vehicle defects. Vanessa Jasso filed a complaint against American Honda Motor Co., Inc. in the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura, on August 21, 2025. The lawsuit accuses the defendant of breaching both express and implied warranties under the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act.

The case revolves around a 2025 Honda Pilot that Jasso purchased on October 25, 2024. According to the complaint, Jasso received written and implied warranties from American Honda Motor Co., Inc., assuring that the vehicle would be free from defects in material and workmanship. However, she claims that the vehicle was delivered with significant defects and nonconformities related to its body system. Despite numerous attempts to have these issues resolved by authorized service centers, Jasso alleges that the problems persist, including a squeaky driver’s seat and intermittent door lock failures.

Jasso’s legal team argues that these ongoing issues violate the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act—a law designed to protect consumers by ensuring that products meet certain standards of quality and reliability. “Defendants failed to provide restitution pursuant to the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act,” states the complaint, highlighting what they see as a failure by American Honda Motor Co., Inc. to uphold their end of the bargain.

The plaintiff is seeking various forms of relief from the court. This includes general damages exceeding $35,000 for breach of warranty, rescission of the sales contract with restitution for all monies expended, diminution in value due to defects, incidental and consequential damages, and civil penalties amounting to twice her actual damages. Additionally, Jasso demands reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs associated with pursuing this legal action.

The case is being handled by Aryan Sarbaz from American Lemon Law Group LLP on behalf of Vanessa Jasso. The filing lists Judge K. Bieker as involved in overseeing proceedings under Case ID 2025CUPLO49566.
