A former employee has taken legal action against a major California corporation, alleging a pattern of sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. Diana Colin filed her complaint in the Superior Court of the State of California for the County of Santa Clara on August 25, 2025, naming Confluent, Inc. as the defendant. The lawsuit accuses Confluent of failing to prevent harassment and creating an environment that fostered such behavior.

Diana Colin, who was employed by Confluent, Inc., claims she was subjected to repeated sexual harassment by employees at the company. According to the complaint, Colin was regularly asked personal questions about her life and pressured to attend social events outside of work hours. Despite being only 19 years old at the time, she was often approached with inappropriate comments and advances from both Confluent employees and external individuals like delivery personnel. One particularly egregious incident involved a Confluent IT employee named Hans Nguyen, whose conduct was allegedly encouraged by his supervisor. “Plaintiff told her that she did not want to do that,” states the complaint regarding unwanted flirting suggestions made by Nguyen’s supervisor.

Colin alleges that she repeatedly reported these incidents to various supervisors within Confluent but received little support or action in response. For instance, when she raised concerns with Zara King on January 18, 2024, about derogatory comments made by Nguyen, King promised to escalate the issue to Human Resources but failed to follow through effectively. This lack of response continued even after Colin began working full-time at Confluent on March 25, 2024. Despite assurances from Peggy Wilson during a Zoom meeting on June 27, 2024, that security measures would be implemented following Colin’s complaints, no substantial actions were taken.

The plaintiff further claims that Jose Martinez, an onsite office manager hired supposedly to address these issues, instead dismissed her concerns as trivial and perpetuated a dismissive culture towards female employees’ safety and well-being. His behavior allegedly included making light of harassment incidents and undermining Colin’s medical condition related stress symptoms.

In her lawsuit, Diana Colin seeks general and special damages for economic losses as well as compensation for emotional distress caused by this hostile work environment. She is also pursuing punitive damages against Confluent for their alleged willful negligence in addressing workplace harassment. Additionally, Colin requests injunctive relief mandating Confluent to establish a workplace free from discrimination and harassment.
