The California Supreme Court has approved changes to its application process for attorneys representing indigent defendants in capital appeals. The court announced a revised application form for attorneys seeking their first appointment and introduced a new, shorter form for those applying for additional appointments.
According to the court, the shorter application is designed to make the process faster and simpler for attorneys who have already been appointed by the court in previous capital appeals. Both forms are now available on the court’s website.
“Both approved forms, the Application for First Appointment to Capital Appeal and the Application for Appointment to Additional Capital Appeal, are posted on the court’s website and are available for immediate use,” stated the California Supreme Court.
